PFEM for debris flow considering bed erosion, transportation and sedimentation

Supervisor: Prof. Eugenio Oñate

Objective: Numerical simulation of debris flow considering bed erosion, transportation and sedimentation by PFEM

Methodology: PFEM will be developed to deal with debris flows with the attributes of multiphase and interaction among the phases, free and moving boundaries, discontinuities (both weak and strong) and phase transformation between solid and fluid. The constitutive model for the solid phase developed in Task 1.2 can be implemented. The parameters are to be identified using the database provided by Task 1.4. The numerical results will be compared with the case studies documented in WP4.

Deliverable: Numerical simulation of debris flow considering bed erosion, transportation and sedimentation, Comparison to DEM and CFD simulation, Validation by case studies;

Secondments: BFW: 12 p-ms (case study, database), WSL: 2 p-ms (case study, database)
