Founded in 1953, Baugrund Dresden is a leading engineering company specialized in geotechnical consulting and services. With about 50 engineers, Baugrund Dresden provides the whole spectrum of geotechnical engineering services, from feasibility study, preparation of tender document over design to site supervision. Our company has been involved in major construction works in Germany and abroad, e.g. the High Speed Railway Lines in Germany and in China.

Competencies and facilities

Benefited from the broad spectrum of activities in transportation, flood control, environment and municipal works, we have acquired considerable experience and special know-how. For example, Baugrund Dresden has established the quality standard for embankment slopes for High Speed Railway in Germany, which is also widely used in China. We host a well equipped laboratory and an impressive arsenal testing devices for in-situ tests. The company is an active member in Commissions for Norms and Standards in Germany. Numerical simulations are intensively used in our routine practice. The supervision will be tailored to the MUMOLADE fellow to cover both fundamental and practical aspects. The interesting projects offer excellent opportunity for the young researchers to gain design experience.

Key person

Prof. Peter-Andreas von WOLFFERSDORFF is CEO of Baugrund Dresden and has over 20 years experience in consulting and research. He is renowned for his expertise in the application of modern numerical analysis in geotechnical engineering.  Dr. von Wolffersdorff is member of the Numerical Working Group of the German Society of Geotechnical Engineering and member of several Commissions for Norms and Standards in Germany. He has close cooperation with research institutions in Germany and was Honour Professor of the Technical University Freiberg, Germany.
