University of Nottingham (UNOTT), UK
Competencies and facilities
Access to the modern geomaterials laboratories including a modern geotechnical centrifuge is available. The Nottingham centrifuge modeling team has a proven track record in design and development of sophisticated model actuation and control systems for a multitude of research applications including investigations related to piled embankments, slope stabilization, in-situ testing, tunnel-pipeline and tunnel-foundation interactions, trap-door experiments, and ground-borne vibration from tunnels. The Faculty also organises Summer Schools on Solid Mechanics supported by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) as well as NAFEMS accredited Short Courses on Finite Element Techniques and Computational Fluid Dynamics. MUMOLADE participants will benefit from access to such events organised in the future.
