Prof. Hai-sui Yu, UNOTT, UK

is Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UNOT, who has a world-leading re­puta­tion in con­stitutive modell­ing of granular materi­als and com­putation­al geomec­hanics.

He is Editor-in-Chief, Co-Editor or Editori­al Board Mem­b­er of sever­al lead­ing in­ter­nation­al journ­als and winn­er of sever­al pre­stigi­ous awards.

Pro­fes­sor Yu's main re­search ac­tivit­ies have focused on theoret­ical and com­putation­al geomec­hanics, con­stitutive modell­ing, in-situ soil test­ing, and pave­ment geotechnics. Pro­fes­sor Yu has pub­lished two books and well over 150 pap­ers in lead­ing in­ter­nation­al journ­als and con­fer­ence pro­ceed­ings, and has been awar­ded numer­ous med­als and prizes for his re­search work, which in­clude ISSMGE's first J K Mitchell Lec­tur­er in 2004, Shamsh­er Prakash In­ter­nation­al Re­search Award in 2003, ICE's Tel­ford Medal in 2000, and Australian Geomec­hanics Society's Trol­lope Medal in 1998. Pro­fes­sor Yu has ser­ved on the Editori­al Boards of sever­al top in­ter­nation­al journ­als in geotechn­ical en­gineer­ing and on the Nation­al Ex­ecutive Com­mit­tee of the British Geotechn­ical As­socia­tion (BGA). Over the last de­cade, he has also wor­ked for vari­ous per­iods with many of the lead­ing soil mech­anics re­search groups in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, Fran­ce and the UK.
