Prof. Yong-qi Wang, TUD, Germany

is deputy head of the Institute of Fluid Dynamics at TUD. His research expertise is in geophysical mechanics with applications in the mechanics of granular materials, avalanching flows of snow, debris and mud, physical limnology, the foundations of continuum mechanics and thermodynamics and computational fluid dynamics.

Dr. Wang has authored/co-authored 9 books and more than 60 papers in peer review journals. He has made major contributions to the mixture theory of granular material and fluid, and to the numerical solution of rapid granular flow. The three-volume compendium on "Physics of Lakes" co-authored with Prof. Hutter promises to become a standard reference in this highly challenging area.
